Diabetic retinal screening
The Wellington Independent Practitioners Association is a management services organization with a general medical practitioner (GP) shareholding that contracts out specific community services. In the case of Diabetic Eye Care the screening of retinal problems that can be associated with having diabetes is contracted out to a select group of local optometrists. These patients on referral from their GP are photographed and monitored and in some cases, referred into the Diabetic clinic at Wellington Public Hospital.
