Peter is a past Chair of the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board, a past President of the New Zealand Society of Contact Lens Practitioners (now the Cornea and Contact Lens Society), a founding Fellow of that Society and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry
While principally a clinic optometrist, Peter has at various times, lectured, published papers in peer reviewed journals, examined final year optometry students and participated in the accreditation of the Dept of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland. He is currently participating the the accreditation of the fledgling Optometry Dept at Flinders University in South Australia
In 2008 Peter was awarded the Snowvision Downunder Scholarship to the State University of New York College of Optometry where he gained valuable experience in specialist examination techniques and pediatric care
Married with 3 teenagers, he’s interested in music, movies, books, wine, food and snow skiing.

| Bill McClellan |

Bill joined the practice in 1970 when it was named for its founders Cocks and Newall, and has seen it through two rebuilds to its present form
His interests saw him spend many early years active in the Values Party, then five years on the Onslow College Board of Governors then to Chair of its Board of Trustees while his daughter Rachel attended.
For the next twelve years or so he sailed his yacht Friska locally and offshore, and now his interests largely centre on his century old cottages in Otaki, gardening in that town’s magnificent soils, and continuing his thirty plus year work as the town’s one day a week Optometrist.

| Lara Tolich |

Lara was awarded a Bachelor of Optometry in 1994 and a Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2004. She has been at McClellan Grimmer Optometrists since 1996, with a couple of sabbaticals thrown in for good measure.
McClellan Grimmer’s commitment to comprehensive eye care and quality service fits well with her passion for optometry.
When Lara is not working she enjoys travel, food and reading.

| Shannon Tubman |

Shannon Tubman is a Therapeutically Qualified Optometrist who has a passion for ocular pathology and fashion spectacle frames. Shannon is also a qualified screener for the WIPA Diabetic Retinal screening programme and has been a part of it since its conception in 2001.
Shannon started practicing at McClellan & Grimmer Optometrists in 2006 after gaining clinical experience as a locum optometrist around New Zealand and South Australia. Shannon is always looking for ways to diversify her Optometry experiences and has taught and examined Optometry students at Auckland University, practiced in rural Fiji and central New York and she has even tested the eyes of a few dogs!
Outside of Optometry Shannon’s interests are foreign languages, traveling and performing in amateur theatre.

| Renee Edgar |

Renee is a therapeutically trained optometrist with a special interest in sports vision, ocular pathology and multi focal contact lenses. Once a week she moonlights at the Public Hospital Eye Dept glaucoma clinic where she works in a multidisciplinary team in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma
Graduating from the University of Auckland in 2003 Renee first worked in Taupo which plenty of interesing eye diseases and management of cases with ophthalmologists. A very challenging first job inspired her interest in pathology
It also saw her develop an interest in cycling, partaking in the Great Lake Cycle Challenge for many years
A 3 year hiatus from optometry saw Renee pack her back pack for some interesting travel experiences where she worked as a tour manager for Contiki Holidays throughout Europe
Settling back into New Zealand life Renee joined McClellan Grimmer in 2010 after a stint at another local practice and is so far enjoying Wellington and is looking forward to getting back into cycling - including the hills and adapting to the wind

Hailing from Mt Ruapehu Mairead moved to Wellington for the kinder climate and the good shopping! When she is not answering your phone calls or helping you with your frame selection Mairead focuses on her hobbies. One of her many passions is snowboarding.
And dont be put off - it really is easy to say Mairead - it rhymes with parade!

Fiona has retail experience and has also worked in elder care and easily relates to people of all age groups. She and her teenage daughter share their home with a dog, cat, two lovebirds and tropical fish. As you can tell she loves animals!! Fiona enjoys helping our customers with frame choices, giving honest feedback, and is happy to help customers any time they call in.
